Congratulations to everyone who participated in the 2012 Women's Triathlon!
I'm sure everyone will agree that it was a great day.....just look at our event clip!
Wembley Cycles Short Course Run Distance
There’s been some enquiries regarding the run course distance for the Short Triathlon at yesterday’s Women’s Triathlon. Human error is to blame, the run turnaround was placed at the short course turnaround for our Telstra Triathlon Series, and not the Short Course Triathlon for yesterday. The distance for yesterday’s run was 2km, and not the advertised 3km.
We apologise for any inconvenience.
Event Charities
The Women's Triathlon has been a significant event for women in the WA community; through this we are again partnering with the Esther Foundation. This year the event will also partner with the Women & Infants Research Foundation WAto increase awareness of other organisations that supports WA women.
The Esther Foundation a not for profit organisation which operates a program for young women aged 14-35 wanting to get their lives back on track.
The program provides support and accommodation for young women to overcome issues relating from substance abuse, self-harm, family breakdown, domestic violence, sexual abuse and mental health problems - in a safe and structured environment. The Esther Foundation Recovery Program aims to empower and enrich young women with self-worth, skills and the confidence to lead successful lives within the community.

The Women's Triathlon has adopted an additional charity for this year's event, the Women & Infants Research Foundation WA (WIRF). Based at King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH) the Foundation is both an independent research institution and charity. WIRF is affiliated with The University of Western Australia and KEMH, conducting high quality research for the benefit of human health relating to the fields of reproductive health and diseases of women at all ages.
Much of WIRF’s work is about ‘creating healthy generations’ - making research discoveries that will improve the outcome of sick babies before and soon after birth and improve women’s health in pregnancy and later in life.
Each dollar donated will be used towards ‘creating healthy generations’ by improving the health of babies, mums and women here in WA.

We are calling upon entrants and friends of the Women's Triathlon to support the Esther Foundation and the Women & Infants Research Foundation WA and consider making a donation to support both of these worthy charities that help so many women in the WA community.
